Welcome!

Friday, July 18th, 2008

Hey, everyone! It’s good to be at the new site as a member of SpiderForest! It was put together by Kez of War of Winds; so give her a hand. So far the community has been extremely welcoming and helpful; I’m looking forward to being part of the collective, and working to make Cooties even better!

All of the extra bells and whistles aren’t set up yet, but give us time. Anyone new to the strip can still take a look at the old New Readers page.

Daily fixins

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Hey, did you all know that, although Cooties only updates twice a week, you can get a daily dose of cartoonation from me five days a week? It’s true, and for free, too! Cooties updates here on Tuesdays and Fridays; you can also check out my blog on Mondays and Wednesdays. Mondays I will post a Classic Cartoonista toon or calendar toon, or some other blog-exclusive goodness; and Wednesdays you can check out the weekly editorial cartoon I do for the Davis County Clipper, a local Utah newspaper. On Thursdays you can check out my brand new strip Dadmocracy; it’s more a of a typical gag-a-day newspaper style strip, not story-based like Cooties. I hope you’ll give them all a look!

I apologize for the once-a-week only updates recently. I’ve been working more, and yesterday was my 10th wedding anniversary; no way I was gonna be drawing comics, sorry. I will try and get two updates in this week, though, but no promises.

I would really hate to have to go back to updating weekly, but right now I don’t see my time getting any freer. I’ll keep you all posted.

First, the bad news…

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

Yes, I’m going to use the H word. Cooties, and pretty much all my tooning except for the paying gig, will be taking a small hiatus of 2-3 weeks. However, I have some great news to go along with that: as of September, I will have a schedule change at my day job to where I will be working 4 10-hour days, Tues-Fri. On Mondays, I will have a designated chunk of time that I can actually “go to work” at my drawing table. I will be able to treat the cartooning as a job (in letter if not in spirit), and have scheduled drawing time, instead of stealing it from my sleep time as I’ve been doing for so long. As of that point I foresee regular updating with no more flakiness on my part.

In the meantime, if any of my readers who are fellow webcomickers would like to throw some guest art my way, I wouldn’t be disagreeable to posting it. I know with school starting it’s not the best time in the world, though. We’ll get through the drawing drought together, I promise…

Back in the Asylum

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

Hey, folks! Jack from Webcomic Asylum posted an interview with me on his site. I talk about some of the changes Cooties has gone through in the last few months, as well as some ideas about the future of the strip. I also talk a bit about my other sites and how the move to Spiderforest has been treating me. Give it a read!

I suppose you’re wondering why I’ve called you here…

The holiday season is coming up soon, and with it more comic projects for me to make because I’m too poor to give my family & friends real presents. Like last year, in order to avoid a hiatus I will be doing single-panel updates through the rest of 2008. Those of you who can stand the slow pace will be rewarded with regular updates, and those of you who don’t, I look forward to your return in 2009.

Also, when I got hooked up here at SpiderForest, I also was given a forum for the comic. I’m not sure my readership can support one yet (my chatbox isn’t terribly active as it is), but I want to give it a shot. At the very least, I would really appreciate it if any of you who consider yourselves regular readers would make a post in the Welcome thread so I can at least know who you are. I promise I won’t stalk you!

Thanks, folks!
Nick

Not that there’s anything wrong with webcomics…

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

Check out some guest art I did for my bud Jamie over at 67th Avenue! He recently got a review dubbing his strip “the Seinfeld of webcomics”, so I went with the theme.

So sorry…

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

Well, everyone, I thought I could go the rest of the year without a hiatus, but it looks like I can’t. Have a good Christmas season and I’ll see you all in January!

Happy New Year!

2009 is here! I’ve made some resolutions that I will try real hard to keep. Come post your own on the forum!

Wintery cootiness

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

Hey, Cootieheads! I made a winter-themed wallpaper. And no, Jake is not a dancer from West Side Story, he’s dodging snowballs…
